Detention Deputy (retired) Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office 1990-2016

 

Elected Union Steward Teamsters Local 320, Chief Steward  for most of the time at the HCSO until 2011 then Union Steward MNPEA (Minnesota Public Employees Association) at the HCSO until retirement.

Served as an elected National Delegate to the 2011 Teamsters International Convention.

Elected as MNCORA President November 16, 2021

Served as Advisor to the Minnesota State 911 Telecommunicator Pension Benefits Work Group 2021-2022.

Steven Pondelis-Retired Hennepin County Detention Deputy.

 

Served over 34 years with the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office as a Detention Deputy. During that time, I have been through four Sheriffs, countless admin figures, several schedules, and three unions. In addition, I have another 8 years of street security at Dayton's and City Center prior to my service with the HCSO. Over 42 years in the business altogether. 

 

During my time with the HCSO, I was an active member in all three unions.

I have thirty four years correctional experience to date. I started my career in Great Britain, working in Maximum Security Prisons. I spent time in Basrah, Iraq, rebuilding a post-Saddam jail and prison system. Then moved to the US in 2004 and have been working at HCSO Adult Detention Center since 2005.
